The new Atomic Hawx Ultra 130 is really beautiful-and skiing is also very good. | Atomic photos.

I haven't had holiday boots for skiing for several years. With the excellent performance that crossover boots have recently provided-including Atomic's own walking mode boots-I just didn't really see this, but testing the new Atomic Hawx Ultra 130 made me realize what I was missing. Jackson Hole confirmed my suspicion a few days later-I was overwhelmed by the strength and surprising comfort of the boots.

This 130 flex, 98 mm long lasting bright red four-buckle boot uses Atomic's new Prolite Memory Fit shell design, which means that it is not only very light, but the shell plastic can actually be thermoformed in addition to the inner lining. The 26-size boot weighs 1810 grams-not bad for such a powerful thing. The 98mm last is at the narrow end of the spectrum, but moldable plastic means it can adapt to all the strange complexities of your foot. Alternatively, Atomic also produces the same boots as part of its 100mm last Prime and 102mm last Magna series.

The same applies whether on or off the piste-Hawx Ultra 130 is Atomic's response to free riding boots. | Atomic photos.

Compared to the existing Hawx Ultra XTD, the new boots feel slightly longer and have more space (horizontal and vertical) at the toe. I need to make a lot of toe holes on the old Ultra XTD and don't feel the need to modify the new Ultra 130 shell in any way. The shell and padded heel pocket feel very comfortable, and I would say that the instep height is at a medium level. Finally, the height of the cuff feels perfect for me, allowing great leverage to drive the boots as expected without making my legs too tall.

The lining itself is very warm, and the four pull-tabs on the top make it easy to get in and out of the suitcase even in snowy and cold parking lots. It is thermoformable and provides a very comfortable glove-like fit without any plastic or seam obstruction. The boots were transported in a relatively upright forward tilt position, and I eventually moved the screws on my spine to a more aggressive 17-degree position, after a few runs. The power belt has a cam buckle closure similar to the aftermarket Booster belt, allowing you to tighten the cuff tightly against your tibia. On the sole, you will find Grip Walk rubber, which allows the boots to be purchased in large quantities in boot bags and parking lots and is compatible with all Grip Walk and MNC bindings. It does not have any technical accessories.

Adjustable forward, tilt, and plastic shell and lining, the boots have all the necessary adjustments to make your feet feel at home. | Atomic photos.

On the snow, the light weight of the boots was immediately noticed. During the long days, I felt that the energy was saved when skiing. I never want to go back to heavier boots. The elastic pattern is exactly what I expected of the four-button boots-smooth and predictable. Although the flex number is actually arbitrary and not a measure of anything real, this boot is the real deal-sturdy and powerful. It's not exactly in the plug boot domain, but it's very close. I even brought them a lot of JHMR boot bags, and found that once I loosened the two buckles and power belts on the top, it was very comfortable to walk in them for a long time.

Atomic Hawx Ultra 130 is a boot suitable for hard skiers looking for a dedicated ski boot. If you open the zipper in the big shot field, take off from the cat track, and can ski hard and fast all day, no matter what the conditions, then look no further. It is an excellent choice for use with large snowboards such as Atomic's Maverick 100ti or Bent Chetler 120. Fasten your seat belts and point to them. Get Atomic Hawx 130 here.

If you have ever watched a ski movie, flipped through the catalog of an outdoor company, walked into a cabin at the foot of a ski mountain, or just a sporty white male archetype that was not historically catered to by the outdoor industry, you know how easy it is. It has been a year and a half since Nick's almost fatal ski pillow accident during a TGR filming in March 2020. The place where he was buried and his transceiver were malfunctioning. He talked about the consequences of drawing attention to malfunctioning equipment and Black Diamond's indifferent response to taking responsibility.
